Why CD Technology?
CDs are universally readable and easy to use. Virtually all PCs today include a CD reader as standard equipment.
Writable CDs conform to ISO 9660 standard; which means the computer can locate files easily.
CDs are low cost media to master. You can further copy and distribute them affordably.
CDs are durable and stable. Kodak states, “We predict the lifetime of CD media, under normal conditions in an office or home environment, should be 100 years or more.”
OSTA states, “The CD-R media manufacturers have performed extensive media longevity studies using industry defined tests and mathematical modeling techniques, with results claiming longevity from 70 to over 100 years. With proper handling and storage, your CD-Rs will outlive you.”
