     CDI’s Fibre Channel RAID protected Data Storage System:

CD International’s Fibre Channel based architecture allows you to safely store your data on a reliable Fibre Channel RAID 5 protected system. The hard drives are mounted using specially designed disk caddies. The modular Black Dragon enclosures can be mounted in standard 19” racks.

Black Dragon systems can be configured with up to 125 Fibre Channel drives on each of three channels, with up to three warm spares on each. Using currently available drives, configurations can range from 250 Gigabytes to 9 Terabytes.

For reliability the Black Dragon architecture is designed to provide redundancy for all components.

The Black Dragon family of systems provides high data throughput using either a single RAID controller or dual controllers using Fibre Channel Arbitrated A and B Loops. The transfer rate is up to 100MB/second single loop and 200MB/second for a dual loop.

Black Dragon systems are independent of the host computer operating system and network. Networks supported include Novell, UNIX, and Windows-based systems.

Providing network flexibility and scalability, they can connect to a single server through a Fibre Channel host adapter, through a multiplexor to connect to several PC servers, or can participate in a major SAN configuration connecting through a fabric switch.  

The Black Dragon systems can be used for any applications requiring fast, reliable network storage, such as  high volume image storage and retrieval, video image libraries, and internet/intranet accessible data bases.
